Having a job does strange things to you. You sit at your desk and stare at a computer for a handful of hours, expending essentially zero energy, and yet when you get home you’re utterly zonked. And when I say “you,” I also mean “me.”
I’m only 3ish weeks into the real world and I can already see that I’m going to have to work extra hard to both maintain my exercise schedule outside of work, and move some while actually at work. Because, seriously, our bodies were not meant to be sitting/staring all day, and eventually it’s all going to come back to bite us.
So how does a type A person like me go about forming a new habit? Well, I make a schedule for it. And then I color code the schedule and put it into my Outlook calendar (which currently looks like a unicorn threw up a bag of skittles onto it). The rest is history.
Need more cowbell? Take a lap at each even hour of the day (8 am, 10 am, 12 pm, etc.). Or take some tips from my good friends at Greatist.
