It might be a little cruel for me to “assign” this fitness challenge immediately after a holiday weekend. On one hand, most of us approach a new week with the best of intentions when it comes to our health. Our fridges are stocked, we have our week’s workout schedule mapped out in our heads, the world is our oyster.
On the other hand, that pretty much all goes to sh*t when the weekend in question is one of the holiday variety. Tell me, when was the last time you spent your last free afternoon of a three day weekend at the grocery store?*
*Beer runs do not count.
That’s what I thought. In all seriousness, it’s hard to get back into a fitness routine after a boozy weekend. That’s why I’m easing you in with this month’s fitness challenge. While these daily plank holds are meant to be a small supplement to your normal, more rigorous fitness routine, I ain’t mad at ya if all you can manage on this post-Labor Day Tuesday is a 30 second hold. Baby steps.
Make this calendar your desktop background, print it out and post it on your fridge, invite your coworkers to plank with you, do whatever you need to do to keep up with it. I’ll be checking in on you throughout the month to make sure you’re planking and holding like the Petite Professional that you are. We’re in this together.
