After 5 weeks in Chicago, I’m finally back home in Houston and I couldn’t be happier!
Really, I think I live on the surface of the sun. But talking about the weather is boring and I’m too excited to have my apartment, car, kitchen, grocery store, etc. back to file any further complaints. Plus, I have a way to beat the heat– this smoothie bowl. AKA summer soup. AKA lunch following an afternoon of errands that made the thought of consuming anything above room temperature sound like true torture.
TBH, I’m usually a smoothie skeptic. Most of them are meal-worthy from a calorie standpoint, but they’re almost all carbohydrate from the fruit and juice. Now, I don’t have anything fundamentally against fruit. It’s sweet and delicious and full of water, fiber, and antioxidants. But I also like to feel full for at least a few hours after a 300-400+ calorie meal, which is where protein and fat come in. So to combat my usual skepticism, I go total control freak and basically don’t drink smoothies unless I make them myself and can ensure macro nutrient balance. Type A is the way, right?
